Corporate Responsibility is an important element in every successful law firm
There are rafts of complex theses on what Corporate Responsibility (CR) is and why it is important. In reality it is quite simple – enhancing business value whilst supporting positive social change is the right thing to do and it will significantly improve your bottom line.
Clients expect it so it is no longer a “nice to have”. Your target clients and your main competitors will be looking at how CR can boost business so it is vital not to be left behind. When done properly it will really enhance your business relationships and the energy within your business
Good CR credentials can be a necessity in business tenders, but they are also a powerful recruitment tool, fantastically effective in building a tremendous business culture and hugely useful in providing you with positive publicity. As an interesting and not insignificant addition they will often save you money too.
The business benefits of a strong relevant CR programme that is linked to your market strategy are without question.
Creating and implementing successful CR programmes
Delivering strong CR does not have to be that complicated but it should address four key areas:
- Building strong and sustainable Community relationships – volunteering initiatives, and fundraising are often used but training, coaching and other opportunities all exist
- Taking a responsible approach to your impact on the Environment – managing your resources well will save you money and be hugely popular with your people
- Creating a great Workplace that promotes opportunity, equality and co-operation – recruitment is so much easier when people can see a strong CR culture in place.
- Supporting the Marketplace through collaboration – whilst Pro-Bono is an obvious answer for law firms it can take some new ideas to make it innovative and effective
We have developed and implemented award winning CR programmes so if you need some help getting your CR plans up and running contact us for toolkits, workshops or bespoke project plans.
CR at PMLLP
As a small and new business we don’t have a big environmental impact but we do what we can adopting car share and public transport whenever possible. We use very little paper and where opportunities exist use renewable resources.
We provide time off to support volunteering in the Community.
By offering CR learning we seek to improve the contribution made by the legal Marketplace.
We currently support The Born Free Foundation
Recognising how difficult it is to respond to change in every aspect of life we support the Born Free Foundation in their work to save the elephants. They face the ultimate challenge of adapting to survive the poacher, a huge uphill, made just a little easier by the charity’s efforts to protect them We have adopted Emily Kate and Ewok as our company mascots.
